Peace in Action and Social Service (PASS) is a national not for profit, non-partisan, non- governmental organization guided by Christian Values. The organization was established in 2010 by South- Sudanese elite group and supported by Diasporas and overseas friends. PASS is currently headed by Rev. Thomas Manyol Riek as the Executive Director. It has 7 members Board of Directors whose tasks include goal orientation, strategic direction, visioning, governance and evaluation of the organizations overall performance.

PASS was fully registered with Government of the Republic of South Sudan through Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) and Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management under NGO Act 2016, Reg. NO 543 in the Republic of South Sudan Dated 22 Nov. 2016. PASS has its head office in Juba Kololo Road, Opposite CMD and Catholic University/Main Campus. Plot No. 121, Juba, South Sudan. PASS also has its field offices in Ayod, Jiech, Duk and Fangak Counties of Northern Jonglei state.

2.0 OUR IDENTITY AND PURPOSE

The purpose of PASS is to build connections, trust and harmony in the community, foster development of new and ongoing relationships between cultures and generations. PASS through peace building, advocacy, social services and community empowerment, works to introduce the communities towards realization of importance of self-reliance by building the capacity of people to mitigate the rampant suffering in South Sudan. PASS programs/ activities are in the areas of Peace-building, Reconciliation, Resilience Building Advocacy and programing, Education, Climate change, skills development, Child Protection and GBV, WASH, FSL, Health and Nutrition

3.0 OUR CURRENT PARTNERS 

Currently we are partnering with:

  3.  Finn Church Aid (FCA)
  4.  Christian Mission for Development (CMD)
  5. Africa Development Aid (ADA)
  6. Afri-Project Management Consultants and 
  7. African Leadership Skill Initiative (ALSI). 

We are also in partnership with key Line-Ministries among them being: 

  1. The Ministry of Health
  2. Ministry of Information
  3. Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, 
  4. Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare,
  5.  Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and 
  6. Relief and Rehabilitation Commission at the state level. 

4.0 OVERALL GOAL

Improve unity, reconciliation, social welfare, sustainable development and resiliency position of   different Communities of South Sudan

 6.0 OUR SPECIFIC OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  • To strengthen dialogue and cooperation in order to create a positive, inclusive and collaborative peace mediation process which is sustainable for all
  • Work with other partners in conducting development activity Event management exercise across South Sudan. 
  • Promote Inter-generational exchanges and enhancing Peace-building and Reconciliation
  • Respond to improve co-existence among women, men, youth (boys, girls) and the IDPs
  • Enhance capacity of local authority in policy development for peace building and Co-existence in the community and neighboring 
  • To advocate for the inclusive engagement of religious, community leaders and traditional peacemakers in peace and peacebuilding processes by promoting policy and action oriented recommendations at local and national levels
  • To scale up engaging in advocacy that typically seeks to protect children’s rights which may be abridged or abused in a number of ways
  • Strengthen Child Welfare and Protection Systems and safeguard knowledge and skills necessary for identifying and responding appropriately to the concerns about children  
  • To integrate gender-based violence prevention response efforts into all levels of work and empower women and girls through gender equality 
  • Improve the impact of sanitation, water quality, handwashing, and nutrition interventions on child health and development 
  • Increase the quality, availability, and effectiveness of educational and community-based programs designed to prevent disease and injury, improve health, and enhance quality of life. 
  • Improve Nutrition through food production and micro-income generating activities for poor populations 
  • Enhance campaign on education to increase enrollment of pupils in schools, with especial emphases on girl child enrolment and vocational sustainable livelihood skills development.
  • Capacity strengthening of local organizations through result oriented consultancy services in partnership with Afri-Project Management Consultants as a source of resource mobilization to PASS. 
  • Use of innovative development intervention theories that is relevant and applicable to the project and program being designed.
